The year 2021 is coming to an end and we look back once again
nexnet celebrated 21 years and we started a review with entertaining stories from 21 years of nexnet.
The first months of the year were dominated by work on our new digital product, which will allow us to tap into new markets and target groups. We also went live with the new nexnet.cloud website. And we were able to attract a group of beta testers to put our product through its paces. In November, we shot a commercial for it. For this purpose, we had a film crew on site and watched the experts with great interest as to how such a day of filming proceeds.

Our range of services grew and we were able to celebrate successes
At the same time, we were able to win new customers for nexnet and are very happy about the first successful cooperation.
In terms of information security, the nexnet team did a great job again this year. In the summer, for example, we started expanding the data center in Hamburg and introduced disaster recovery management.
We also successfully implemented the TISAX requirements for our system and thus achieved TISAX certification.
When Corona finally allowed it again, we could be found at trade fairs again – among others at the job fair: Traumberuf IT, as well as the Einstieg Berlin. We had great conversations with very interested students and were able to give some of the fair participants a glimpse into the future.
We also showed up digitally at SAP Risk & Finance live with an exciting presentation and a live case study on the topic! You can find the recording here.
The end of the year held another special challenge in store for us. The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), as the federal cyber security authority, warned of a critical vulnerability in a widely used software component called Log4j. We then did everything we could to close this security gap and protect our customers’ data. However, because we reacted quickly and our usual defense mechanisms took hold quickly, we were able to overcome this challenge as well.
We have a turbulent year behind us. But all in all, we can say that in 2021 we have gained great customers, expanded our security concepts and also launched our own product. We would like to thank all our colleagues for their commitment and perseverance this year!
Work situations were significantly determined by Covid-19
The year 2021 also began with the theme: Corona.
The pandemic continued to dominate work and private life. The federal and state governments tightened the lockdown again at the beginning of the year, so we had to close the office. But thanks to our modern way of working and the high level of digitalization, we were able to quickly master the transition between office and remote work. We kept in touch with our colleagues via webcasts and chats. In this way, we were able to survive the cold season quite well. The pandemic situation inspired us to develop new concepts for the office of the future. A combination of a few days of home office and a few days of working in the office was favored by many. So it made sense to also think about desk sharing, for example.
In addition, we again welcomed new colleagues on board in 2021, who were initially trained remotely. No easy task! But with everyone working together, they were able to integrate them into the appropriate teams.
The summer saw the return of the European Football Championship and some colleagues eagerly participated in the betting game. The main prize was a day at Tropical Island. Second and third place could look forward to various vouchers.
What should not be missing in the summer? Barbecue. As the Corona situation visibly eased, we were able to hold barbecues in smaller groups on the office terrace. We had all missed these team events. So it was all the nicer to meet colleagues again after work.
For the bike lovers among us, we offered the bike service days in the summer. There, employees were able to make a free maintenance appointment with Yeply and get their bike back in shape. There was also the action: “European Week of Sport”. We took this as an opportunity to inform our colleagues about the company sports program. Many a person signed up for the various indoor, outdoor or online courses.
Unfortunately, corona numbers rose again in November. Which is why we had to cancel our planned Christmas party. To get our colleagues into the Christmas spirit anyway, we had our popular Advent calendars and Xmas food boxes. This time we decided to use calendars that are produced in a climate-neutral way and are 100% recyclable. That makes snacking twice as much fun.
Outlook for 2022
Corona will be with us for a while, but we hope to do more joint events again in 2022. For the new year, we are planning our product launch and we will tackle more new projects. We are excited to see what 2022 has in store for us!
For now, we wish all our readers a happy holiday season and a happy new year!
